Estudios de la soledad en personas mayores de origen migrante: una revisión sistemática en Europa

FUNDAMENTOS // Europa experimenta un proceso de envejecimiento de sus sociedades y, dentro de esta población, se incluyen las personas migrantes. Es decir, los perfiles de personas mayores son diversos en su composición étnica. Numerosos estudios indican el riesgo a experimentar soledad y otros factores psicosociales que afectan negativamente a las personas mayores que constituyen minorías étnicas. El objetivo de este estudio fue examinar los estudios sobre personas mayores de origen migrante en los últimos quince años en Europa.
MÉTODOS // Se realizó una revisión sistemática siguiendo el formato PRISMA en las bases de datos electrónicas Web of Science, Scopus, Dialnet y SciELO entre los meses de octubre y noviembre de 2024. Se utilizó la herramienta Rayyan Manager para eliminar los duplicados y realizar el cribado según los criterios de inclusión y exclusión.
RESULTADOS // Se encontraron 2.013 referencias y, tras la valoración del texto completo, se incluyeron un total de 14 artículos. Los resultados sobre prevalencia de la soledad fueron heterogéneos, aunque seis artículos mostraron una prevalencia mayor al 40%. En términos generales, los estudios indicaron la influencia de factores sociodemográficos, migratorios, étnicos-culturales, psicosociales, de curso de vida, médicos y otros como la discriminación.
CONCLUSIONES // Es necesario seguir avanzando en conocimientos específicos sobre cómo afecta la soledad a las personas mayores migrantes, junto a disponer de evaluaciones con pertinencia cultural y que ello se vea reflejado en las políticas públicas.
