Abstract

This publication focuses its attention on the pandemics that affected Andalusia from the 17th to the 21st century (plague, yellow fever, cholera, influenza, HIV/AIDS and COVID-19) and that had a strong impact on the population due to the speed of spread. , high incidence and lethality; It takes into account both the chronology of each of them and - we are facing pandemics - the geographical scales (global, national, provincial and municipal). This approach studies the transition from analogue cartography, applied from the end of the 18th century to the mid-20th century, to digital cartography, a result of the application of new digital technologies that have allowed the integration of different information systems (geographical, epidemiological, social, economic) and the construction of the new cartography. The possibilities opened up by new information systems (big data, genomics, geolocation, etc.) have changed the paradigm, especially in the field of Epidemiological Surveillance, by allowing continuous monitoring of patients and their contacts, giving a real-time vision to the classic itinerary maps, typical of classic epidemics.
