Abstract

The interesting study by Haro Gázquez et al. published in the Spanish Journal of Public Health examines the factors that influence participation in a population screening program for colorectal cancer using the methodology of discussion groups. Among the factors that can improve participation, the authors identify the intervention of a facilitator as a motivator to perform the fecal occult blood test for the first time. That person may be from the immediate environment, as the authors indicate: for example, a spouse who acts as a prescriber.
