Abstract

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has led to a large increase in the demand and consumption of disinfectants and sanitizers in all areas, so much so that it has led to a shortage of active substances and finished products on the market.

The availability of a large amount of information on the websites of health organizations (World Health Organization, Directorate General of Health and Food Safety of the European Commission or Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products) facilitates the search for appropriate alternatives for the required use, optimizing the work of health centers in compliance with international recommendations for disinfection of hands and surfaces, in order to stop the transmission of the virus. In this sense, it is advisable to know the difference between the types of products on the market, their composition and their purpose of use.
