Professor Nájera designed and was the first Director of the Carlos III Institute, managing to combine Science and Health, a goal pursued and not achieved for many years. His personality has been highlighted in the tribute that was dedicated to him on the occasion of the presentation of this book, an event in which various personalities joined, such as the Minister of Science and Innovation, Mr. Pedro Duque, the former Minister of Health and Defense, Mr. Julián García Vargas, and the Minister of Health, Mr. Salvador Illa.
The book analyzes the reasons that made it necessary to create Health Institutes in the world starting in the mid-19th century, after the appearance of the first state-level health institution, the Société Royale de Médecine, in Paris in the mid-18th century.
