Abstract

Stroke or cerebrovascular disease is defined as a disorder of cerebral circulation, of sudden onset, due to arterial occlusion in ischemic stroke (in approximately 85% of cases) or a rupture of the same in hemorrhagic stroke. Early diagnosis and treatment are decisive to improve the survival and chances of recovery of the patient who suffers a stroke.

Stroke remains the leading cause of death in women and the main cause of disability in Europe. Specifically in Spain, according to data extracted from the Annual Report of the National Health System 2020-2021, cerebrovascular disease affects 1.5% of people, although from the age of 65 it affects six out of every hundred and, from the age of 65, it affects six out of every hundred. 80 years, ten out of every hundred.
